New on Wired News

There are a couple of interesting articles on Wired News this morning, only one of which is mine.

First up, and new in the portfolio, is “Vivre les Blogs!“, by me, on the French blogging revolution. Excerpt:-

Spurred by a culture of popular expression and debate that can be traced back to France’s 17th-century salons, the French are embracing weblogs with a greater zeal than anyone on the European continent.

, Loic Lemeur’s conference on blogging, takes place in the auspicious surroundings of the French Senat on Monday. It’s a shame I couldn’t take up the invite - the long weekend has already begun.

Update (Apr 24) - Tracking this story on Technorati here, here and here.

Second, “All The News That’s Fit to Wiki“, Joanna Glasner’s piece on why Wikinews is having a tough time making itself into a credible news operation.

I’ve talked about this before, and so has Simon Waldman:-

This is not the start of the criticism - but it won’t be the end either. Wikinews is problematic and negative press could build.
